What is it about the color green that makes us feel healthy? I honestly don’t know, but I know I feel great when I make the decision to have a ‘Little Green Detox Smoothie’ for breakfast. Refreshing and not too filling, here’s how to make one for yourself.

Wondering what’s so healthy about these ingredients? Here’s a few bullet points. 

  • Lemon juice. Drinking lemon juice first thing in the morning jump starts your metabolism causing you to burn fat faster. It has also been proved that it helps with indigestion. If you have an indulgent lunch or dinner, it may be the cure you need.
  • Ginger. Starting your day with ginger powder may help with your workouts too. Ginger creates a detoxifying component in your sweat called dermcidin, a germ-fighting compound that helps reduce bacterial infections. 
  • Collagen. This can be a tricky ingredient if you’re vegan, but it has tons of health benefits. Two of which include hair health and anxiety relief. Hair growth has a few critical components, collagen being one of them. My hair became healthier after adding it into my diet. Collagen also contains glycine. This tiny amino acid has been linked with balanced stress hormone levels therefore reducing anxiety for some.

    • 1 scoop vegan, vanilla protein
    • handful of power greens (spinach, kale, or other greens of your choice)
    • 1/2 apple (sliced)
    • 1/3 cup frozen pineapple chunks
    • 1/2 cup coconut water
    • Lemon juice to taste
    • Sprinkle of ginger powder
    • 1 scoop collagen (optional)
Tip #1

If you’re feeling bloated, try making this without the protein and add about 5 ice cubes instead.

If you have time, make this with fresh ginger, but only use a tiny amount. It’s healthier and refreshing!
